Swim Levels

We specialize in teaching children from 4 months to 12 years old. Our swimming teaching method consists of 9 levels, divided into 3 categories: Babies & Tots school, Swim School and Stroke School.

Throughout the levels, the child is introduced to the aquatic environment, learning from the first techniques of survival and breathing to swimming techniques of the 4 strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly. At the end of the process the child will be graduated and ready for the next step: being part of a swimming team!

Babies & Tots School (CATEGORY 1)

The category Super Baby Fish consists of the levels Baby fish I, II and III. The purpose of this category is to develop in children, in early childhood, a high level of comfort in the water and progressive introduction of self-rescue skills, while training adults in water safety and drowning prevention. This provides the development of confidence, fun and a loving experience as foundations for a lifetime of learning on the water.

Student ratio per class

Baby Fish I:
6 students (4 to 24 months old)

Baby Fish II e III:
2 students (25 to 36 months old)

Sub-Level 1: At this level, we work on water comfort for the child and train parents in water safety and drowning prevention. In this way, we have developed an environment of trust and fun that will be the basis for future learning in the water.

Prerequisites: No previous swimming lessons or aquatic experience required. Parent participation is required. Ratio of 6 students to 1 instructor.

Sub-level 2: At this level we work with confidence and submersions. Before working with forward movement and float, it is very important that students learn to submerge comfortably. The student who is afraid of submerging will find it difficult to learn the more advanced swim skills. While it is possible to swim and control movement in the water without completely submerging the face, the student will have a healthier and safer aquatic experience if they are not afraid of submersion.

Prerequisites: No previous swimming lessons or aquatic experience required. Comfortable in the water without parents. Ratio of 2 students to 1 instructor.

Sub-level 3: At this level we work with body position, breath control and forward movement in the water. Returning to the surface after jumping into the water is the first step in learning to breathe and helps the student gain confidence in floating in the water. Mastering this skill makes learning other skills easier.

Prerequisites: Must have completed the previous level or be assessed. Comfortable without parents in the water. Ratio of 2 students to 1 instructor.

Swim School (CATEGORY 2)

The Swim School category is formed by the levels Super Turtle, Super Starfish, Super Octopus and Super Dolphin. In it the child will develop functional water survival skills. The purpose of this category is not to teach swimming technique, but to develop skills that will be used for self-rescue, and to develop a sense of how the body moves in the water. The objective of this stage is also to build the foundation for learning the stroke techniques.

Student ratio per class

Junior: 4 students (3 to 5 years old)

Senior:: 4 students (+ 5 years)

Level 2: At this level, we work with confidence and submersion. Before working on forward movement or floating, it is important to teach comfort when submerging in water. A student who is afraid of submersion will struggle with more advanced skills. While it is possible to “swim” and control movement in the water without fully submerging the face, the student will have a healthier, safer and more active aquatic experience without fear of submerging.

Prerequisites: No previous swimming experience is required. Ratio of 3 students to 1 instructor.

Level 3: At this level, we work on body position and air recovery. The benchmark for this level is a lifesaving skill that teaches a student who falls into the water to return to the surface, roll over, and regain air for at least five seconds. In those five seconds, the student could cry or scream for help, get someone's attention, and stay on the surface long enough to potentially be rescued.

Prerequisites: Requires previous swimming experience. Ratio of 4 students to 1 instructor.

Level 4: At this level, we work on forward movement and change of direction. The benchmark for this level is a potential self-rescue skill. Gradually, students start swimming 3 meters/10 feet and then come back to the wall. Dorsal float is used when the student needs to breathe.

Prerequisites: Requires previous swimming experience. Ratio of 4 students to 1 instructor.

Level 5: The student will learn to use the lateral glide as a catch-up position and the basic techniques of Crawl and Backstroke.

Prerequisites:: Requires previous swimming experience. Ratio of 4 students to 1 instructor.

Stroke School (CATEGORY 3)

The Stroke School category consists of the Super Stingray and Super Shark levels. This category is for students of all ages who have reached the Super Dolphin Swim School level goals. Students develop physical stamina, perfect the Freestyle stroke technique, and learn the backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke techniques.

Student ratio per class

Class by skills: 4 students

Level 6: At this level we work with Freestyle and backstroke techniques.

Prerequisites: Requires previous swimming experience, or having completed the Super Dolphin Swim School level. Ratio of 4 students to 1 instructor.

Level 7: At this level we work with butterfly and breaststroke techniques, as well as endurance for Freestyle and backstroke.

Prerequisites: Requires previous swimming experience, or having completed the Super Stingray Swim School level. Ratio of 4 students to 1 instructor.
